2017 Ford Escape

The 2017 Escape is a good option in the compact SUV category. Its well-designed cabin is made of top-notch materials, which will please many customers. Its striking mien, powerful driving experience, as well as its primarily stylish interior are what accounts for the uniqueness of the Ford 2017 Escape.

Interior Features

Despite not being a major redesign, the 2017 Escape has several minor upgrades that enhance its usefulness in daily usage. The improvements to the quietness and storage of the cabin increased its livability, and the optional Ford Sync 3 media system is now more feature-rich than before. Also, it currently supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay-a software that joins your smartphone to the 2017 Ford Escape media system. In addition, a current smartphone control that enables remote start, as well as some other features, has also been put in place.

The inclusion of;

  • LKS – a system that prevents the 2017 Escape from drifting out of a lane.
  • Optional CAS – a system that warns the drivers of an impending collision with another car ahead of it.
  • AEB – a system that automatically prevents a collision, has brought the safety features of the 2017 Ford Escape up to par with industry leaders like Honda CR-V.

Both four-cylinder engines at the top of the 2017 Ford Escape are turbocharged, finely tuned, and work well with the Ford Escape’s standard six-speed automated transmission. Both turbos underperform in fuel efficiency, with the smaller 1.5L EcoBoost producing 179 horsepower and the larger 2L EcoBoost producing 245 horsepower. Only the Ford Escape with a base S trim and having a front-wheel drive comes with the 168 horsepower 2.5L engine. The 1.5L engine barely has enough power. The driver normally awaits the turbocharger while it performs its magic, but in this process, the throttle constantly lags right off the mark. The 2L four-cylinder engine is flawless and is among the class’s quickest.

The Ford Escape is more fun to drive, agile and responsive on the road. It finds a delicate equilibrium between a smooth ride and a soft feel. Additionally, the 2.0L engine has a smoother ride with less engine grumbling and extra power available for overtaking and merging.

Exterior Features

The 2017 Ford Escape’s dimensions remain unchanged in terms of breadth, length, wheelbase, and height. New back and front appearance and modifications to the noise level in the interior and aerodynamics are all cosmetic changes that have been added to the Escape. A new hood, with acoustic glass windows at the side and windshield sealing, was added to keep noise outside the passenger’s compartment. Also, the new lower cladding at the side was fixed to work with the re-done side mirrors to enhance its slipperiness when moved.

The Titanium and SE grades now have black wheels of 19 inches, a taillight trim, a darkened headlight, a blackened grille, and a lower trim as part of a brand-new, optional sports appearance package.

A redesign of the center console of the Ford Escape creates much-needed new storage spaces for pocket gadgets and other connected devices. The Big hand lever was also replaced with an EPB – Electric Park Brake, which allows the gear selector to be moved backward on the center console that rises to a more conventional position, thereby creating a ton of useful cubby space. This is beneficial as it gives smartphones room to stand upright.

The design and materials are less innovative and fresh than previous body types, even though the entire area is more usable. There is still a feel of the old Ford Escape in the interior, irrespective of your interactions with-the center console, steering wheel, and multimedia area, which are all brand new. This does not quite portray any substantial difference from last year’s.

Also, the rigid cushions make the backseat uncomfortable despite the large space in the backseat and its high seating position, giving a superb view when upright.

Pricing

Ford reduced base costs for the Titanium and SE grades by six-hundred and ninety dollars and eight-hundred and five dollars, respectively, for the 2017 Ford Escape. Most Escape customers will benefit from the lower prices on the popular Titanium ($29,995) and SE ($25,995) grades, which is a smart move.

Given that the popular SE model lacks desirable features like heated seats, Sync 3, moonroof, and BSW —all of which are included as standard equipment on other automakers’ midlevel trims—Escape retail price tags continue to skew high.

A Ford Escape Titanium costs $36,650 and is usually equipped with a 2L optional engine, a panoramic moonroof, all-wheel drive, GPS, CAS, and adaptive cruise control. Its interior still resembles the previous Escape, but with more features. The Escape Titanium costs a minimum of $30,590 with its CAS.

Predecessors and Successors

A front-wheel drive and 2L four-cylinder engine joined to a five-speed manual are part of the features of the 2017 Ford Escape predecessors. The higher grade levels came with 200 horsepower, 3L V-6, and a four-speed automatic. They also had a ControlTrac II optional four-wheel-drive system and a towing package for trucks weighing 3,500 pounds. The Escape Hybrid came in 2005 and gave more than 30 miles per gallon combined. Its redesigning in 2008 gave it a modern look like the other Ford lineups. The upgrades in 2008 and 2012 increased the technology and fuel economy to a better rate, such as an optional self-parking and standard six-speed automatic.

The successors of the 2017 Ford Escape, such as the 2020 – 2022 Escape, are wider, lower, and longer than their predecessors. The design of the 2020 Escape gives it a smoother look on its exterior. A turbocharged engine 1.5L three-cylinder of 181HP and an automated eight-speed transmission became the standard. The 250-horsepower, turbocharged 2L four-cylinder is now available – the plug-in drivetrain and the efficiency-focused hybrid.

Conclusion

In general, the slight redesigning of the 2017 Ford Escape allows it to offer more, just like the other Ford lineups. Its multimedia technology and driving refinement set it apart from the rest. However, it isn’t a very different car. In some respects, the 2017 Ford Escape stands out, and in others, it doesn’t significantly improve.
