The McLaren GT is a revolutionary to the McLaren lineup sports car designed and manufactured by British luxury vehicle makers McLaren Automotive. It is the first dedicated grand tourer (GT) to come out of the McLaren stable and is based upon the same platform that underpins the powerful 720S. The GT also has a carbon fiber rear deck that houses a glazed tailgate, providing significantly greater storage capacity compared to other models in its class.
Engine & Performance
The GT was unveiled at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, where it instantly became a crowd favorite amongst industry insiders. Its power source is derived from the 3,994 ccs (4.0 L; 243.7 cu in) twin-turbocharged M840T V8 engine found in the 720S, though this has been re-coded as M840TE with smaller turbochargers for a lower peak performance yet greater responsiveness at low RPMs. This grants an impressive output of 612 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque – perfect for exhilarating driving conditions on city streets or highways alike while also being able to tackle tougher terrains on any racetrack you throw at it.
To keep drivers safe and comfortable in all kinds of environments, the GT’s suspension system utilizes double wishbones at both front and rear axles along with ProActive Damping Control – a modified version of their ProActive Chassis Control II active damping system – ensuring smooth handling capabilities.
According to manufacturers’ claims, this magnificent machine can reach top speeds of 203 mph, accelerating from 0–60 mph in 3.1 seconds and 0–124 mph in 9 seconds flat – swift enough to leave any competitor far behind!
Interior
Inside its luxurious cabin lies 150 liters worth of storage space at the front and 420 liters in the rear compartment – fully capable of accommodating even bulky items such as large golf clubs or other sports gear without hassle. Upholstery options are extensive, too, ranging from standard Nappa leather to softer hides sourced from Bridge of Weir Leather in Scotland or even cashmere down the line!
The seats are designed for comfort with increased shoulder padding and back support while being electrically adjustable and heated as standard on Pioneer & Luxe models. To make navigation easier within its cockpit area, there’s an intuitive 7-inch touchscreen mounted centrally, which handles various infotainment functions, plus a 12.3-inch driver information display made for easy access to vital settings like Comfort, Sport & Track mode when needed most.
Design
The GT borrows design cues from the 720S but also introduces some unique touches of its own, most notably a new light bar integrated into the front grille, which serves as a defining feature to differentiate it from other McLaren cars. The rear houses a glass hatch with two downward-slanting fins on either side, providing extra aerodynamic support while also creating visual intrigue – yet another example of the attention to detail and craftsmanship that goes into every McLaren vehicle.
All these features culminate into an unforgettable driving experience that appeals to both casual riders & professional racers alike!
