When it comes to high-performance cars, few names are as iconic as Ferrari. The Italian automaker has been producing some of the world’s most luxurious and powerful cars since 1947. One of their most popular models is the Ferrari F12, a mid-engine V12 grand tourer that first debuted in 2012.
Overview
The Ferrari F12 Berlinetta is a gorgeous, front mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive grand tourer produced by Ferrari. Upon its debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, it replaced the 599 grand tourer, bringing with it a greater level of sophistication, performance, and comfort.
Featuring an iconic 6.3 liter naturally aspirated V12 engine from the renowned Ferrari F140 family, it has earned numerous awards, including the International Engine of the Year Award in 2013 for Best Performance and Best Engine over 4.0 liters, as well as ‘The Supercar of the Year 2012’ from Top Gear magazine.
Performance
Powering the F12berlinetta is a 6.3-liter V12 engine with 730 hp and 690 Nm of torque, mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox operated by paddle shifters behind the steering wheel. Shortened gear ratios help bring out the best power delivery from the engine for maximum performance.
As standard equipment, it also includes carbon ceramic brakes for higher stopping power, as well as an electronic LSD, SCM-E magnetorheological suspension, ESP Premium stability control, and F1-Trac traction control system that are all controlled via Manettino dial on the steering wheel.
Due to innovative engineering techniques implemented by Ferrari, it is also incredibly efficient – boasting fuel consumption figures 30% better than that of its predecessor (15.0 mpg) and CO2 emissions of 350 g/km.
Boasting outstanding performance figures such as acceleration times of 0 to 62 mph in 3.1 seconds and 0 to 124 mph in 8.5 seconds, or a top speed of 211 mph, it lapped the Fiorano test circuit in 1 minute 23 seconds – three seconds slower than LaFerrari but faster than many other Ferrari models like 599 GTO, Enzo Ferrari, and 458 Italia. With its sleek design, advanced technology, and adrenaline-pumping performance capabilities combined into one package, there’s no denying that this grand tourer is a truly remarkable machine to behold.
Interior
The interior cabin design has also been updated to provide modern luxury while maintaining classic elements such as leather trimming. The exquisite interior is complimented by a state-of-the-art infotainment system which includes Bluetooth connectivity for smartphones and USB compatibility for other devices.
Conclusion
All these features make this car one of the greatest grand tourers ever produced – its combination of luxurious appointments and ridiculous amounts of power will ensure you look good while going fast! It may have been replaced in 2017 by the 812 Superfast, but that doesn’t mean you should miss out on experiencing firsthand what driving excellence feels like in a Ferrari F12 Berlinetta!
